About the stones: Moonstone (technically colourless labradorite) owe their flash to lamellations of two separate substrates on two axis. In other words, moonstones are inclusions upon inclusions on an X Axis, upon inclusions upon inclusions on a Y Axis. This is the magic. This is what creates this glowing, flashing, luminous, mysterious romance, and is the reason they respond differently in various lighting situations. Your moonstones are guaranteed to be included, as this is 100% what moonstones are about.

Our moonstone originates in Sri Lanka, in small alluvial mine deposits. Considered environmentally and socially responsible for the small scale mining processes, and unlike African moonstone, no child or slave labour is employed in its mining or cutting.

Pearls are harvested throughout originate in China, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Tahiti, and are considered environmentally and socially responsible for the pristine ocean environment required for cultivation and harvesting.

We lovingly ask that you please see our extensive Instagram photo and video archives for thousands of real life examples of our moonstones before purchasing this listing; https://instagram.com/theflyingfoxartanddesign/ Stock photos used in our listings are commonly representative of one stone in various lighting situations. A moonstone from our lot will be carefully and intuitively chosen for you, with flash and colour intensity in mind. Please let us know if there is a preference at all for indigo blues, or greener blues, and we will do our best to find the one for you.

CARE

Moonstone is a delicate stone in comparison to sapphires or diamonds, and is roughly comparable to emeralds in terms of every day wear. Extra care must be taken to ensure that your stone remains intact over the years. No chopping wood, or roughhousing. If this is a deal breaker, ethical diamonds and sapphire may be for you. Flying Fox's diamonds and Sri Lankan sapphires are ethically sourced and vetted for environmental concerns.

Pearls require cleaning with a pearl cleaner, commonly purchased at any jewelry store counter. Absolutely no silver cleaner for stones, especially pearls! Treating pearls with a liver of sulphur to darken the metal will yield yellowed, cracking pearls.

Our ethical gold is strongly recommended for strength and longevity if you've got hard working hands. It's easy to clean with a soak in pearl cleaner, and a gentle q-tip  cleaning for the in-between and hard to reach parts. A yellow and red jewelry polishing cloth should be sufficient to shine the surface once a week or two. Please be sure to maintain your prongs once a year. This is true for all rings. A professional jeweler in your area can take care of this for you.
